Your First Visit
Thank you for choosing Boraz Pediatric Dentistry. We greatly appreciate your confidence in selecting our
office to serve your child's dental and oral health needs. Dentistry is a very important health service and
successful first visits begin with proper education and preparation. We would like to offer several
recommendations to you to help your child have a pleasant dental experience and to help your child achieve a
lifetime of beautiful, healthy smiles.
Your Child's First Visit
We recommend you grant your child the opportunity to only hear of pleasant and fun dental experiences. It is
best to tell your child about a dental visit the night before the appointment. Please refer to the dentist or
Dr. Bob as "our friend".
Dental visits are a part of growing up. Please convey this to your child and that the visit will be fun and
enjoyable. You can share with your child that our office has video games, toys, aquariums and television
monitors at each chair showing current children's movies. Our offices are designed to serve children in a
relaxed and fun atmosphere.

What to Tell Your Child
Depending on your child's age, he or she may ask questions regarding the upcoming visit. Please explain to
your child that the Doctor is going to look and count the teeth, and that he will always explain everything that
is going to be done, there will be no surprises. Also, please avoid the words "needle",
"shot", "drill", "pull", "hurt", "pain", or any other words
that might have an unpleasant meaning. Our office is very careful in the words we choose when serving young
children. Link here to see a List of our Special Office Terms. A few examples of
our special office terms are:
Office Term
Train Whistle
Happy Air
Mr. Thirsty |
|
Actual Dental Term
Handpiece (drill)
Nitrous oxide/oxygen (laughing gas)
Suction (vacuum to remove water & particles) |
Please do not be upset if your child, especially a very young child, is anxious or cries. Children may
be afraid of anything new and different. Our entire staff of professionals is warm, caring, and compassionate.
Parents and staff working together are the most effective means to eliminating anxiety. We truly believe you
will be very comfortable and pleased with your child's visits to our office.

Appointments
Appointments early in the day are usually the best time to see young patients. Children are more fresh and
relaxed and our staff can devote additional time and attention to your child. However, we will always work with
you to try to accommodate your schedule.
At Boraz Pediatric Dentistry, parents are welcome and encouraged to be present with their child at all times
and to actively participate in their child's healthcare.
Your child's first visit will include a complete dental evaluation which includes examining the teeth, mouth,
lips, cheeks, tongue, floor of the mouth, tonsil area, hard and soft palate (roof of the mouth). We will also
evaluate your child's growth and development of the head and neck area. Depending on your child's age and
comfort level, we will provide a thorough dental cleaning including plaque removal, brushing, flossing, and a
fluoride application. Dental radiographs will be taken, if necessary and with your approval. Dr. Boraz will
discuss with you all pertinent findings and recommendations.
