Dental Services

Kids' Smiles Are Our Specialty! At Boraz Pediatric Dentistry, our goal is to help each child achieve a lifetime of beautiful, healthy smiles. Our talented and dedicated staff of professionals enjoys working with children and each team member has special training and expertise in making children feel comfortable. Parents are welcome and encouraged to be present with their child at all times and to actively participate in their child's healthcare.

Early Dental Visits

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Dr. Boraz recommend that by the time your child reaches one year of age, dental visits should be included in your child's overall healthcare. There are two essential reasons for this early start.

Prevention

Dental caries (tooth decay) can begin very early. Foods and liquids in the mouth can form a sticky film (plaque) that dissolves and weakens the enamel of teeth resulting in decay. Decay can compromise the appearance of your child's smile, decrease the room available for permanent teeth, and affect chewing function, nutrition, and speech.

Establishing Relationships

Pleasant visits to our dental office at an early age establish trust and confidence in your child that can last a lifetime.

Preventive Services

We believe that prevention of disease is far more enjoyable, less costly, and more comfortable for all. Dental health depends upon good habits such as proper tooth brushing, use of dental floss, good diet and nutrition, and regular professional care. Education is an integral component of each visit to our office. We recommend a comprehensive dental examination at least twice a year for most children. Dental x-rays will be taken, if necessary and with your approval. A dental cleaning will normally include plaque removal, brushing, flossing, and a fluoride application. Dr. Boraz will discuss with you all pertinent findings and recommendations.

Emergencies

Never hesitate to call in a dental emergency. Children experience occasional accidents or injuries that involve teeth or trauma to the soft tissues in the mouth as well as dental pain.
Emergencies are always given priority in our office. If an emergency arises, please call our office immediately so your child can be seen promptly. If the emergency occurs after hours, we have a 24-hour phone service which will give you instructions for reaching Dr. Boraz. If he is not available, we will always have a pediatric dental specialist on call to serve you.

Cosmetic Dentistry and Teeth Whitening

At Boraz Pediatric Dentistry, we offer a large, exciting range of cosmetic dentistry and teeth whitening options. A beautiful, healthy smile is essential for helping your child achieve high self-esteem and reach his or her full potential. We believe every child deserves a healthy, sparkling smile.

Sealants

We recommend sealants to protect your child against future tooth decay. Sealants are an excellent and cost effective preventive measure that bond to chewing surfaces of back teeth, creating a barrier against food and bacteria that cause decay. It's safe, easy, and helps your child get a head start against tooth decay.

Mouth Protectors (Mouth Guards)

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Dr. Boraz recommend a mouth protector be worn during all contact AND leisure sports such as soccer, rollerblading, football, hockey, softball, baseball, basketball, skateboarding, gymnastics, skiing, and snowboarding. Mouth protectors are essential in avoiding dental and facial injuries and offer significant protection against concussions and other head injuries. Dr. Boraz will recommend the best mouth protector for your child.

Safety and Comfort

Your peace of mind is important to us. Our sterilization techniques are handled in strict compliance with American Dental Association and OSHA Guidelines. Also, your child will be treated with gentle, skilled hands. For some procedures, nitrous oxide (commonly referred to as "laughing gas") is used to help your child relax. Numbing with a local anesthetic is utilized as necessary. If further assistance is necessary for safe and comfortable care, options will be presented and discussed with you. All procedures are discussed with you in advance for your approval and consent.

Hospital Dentistry

Dr. Boraz has staff and operating room privileges at Parker Adventist/Children's Hospital. For some very young children or children with special healthcare needs and significant dental issues, cooperation can be difficult or not possible. In order to achieve safe, effective, and pleasant care for these children, dental services can be provided while your child is asleep.

Preteens and Teenagers

Preteens and teenagers have special oral and dental healthcare issues. Increased dental caries (tooth decay) may occur as a result of a diet largely consisting of fast foods and snacks combined with imperfect oral hygiene and orthodontia. Appearance and self-image are very important issues to this group as well. Pediatric dentists are ideal dental providers for preteens and teenagers because of our unique training and understanding of these issues and our skills in preventive and interceptive care.
